Chiller Maintenance MIRA

Overview

Changing the chiller water routinely will eliminate clogs throughout the cooling system, and ensure maximum cooling efficiency.

The Chiller is set at 24°C when it leaves Aeon Laser USA, you may need to adjust the temperature for your environment. It is recommended the chiller be set between 21-26°C.

What you need

• Camera Dust Blower
• Towel
• Bucket
• Spigot (MIRA5)
• Distilled Water

Frequency

Every 3 Months

MIRA

1. Unplug the machine from the wall outlet.
2. Locate the Chiller on the right side of the machine, next to the E-Stop button.
3. Place a bucket under the Water Outlet.
4. Unplug the Water Outlet and use a spigot to drain the water from the chiller into the bucket.
5. Remove the spigot and plug the Water Outlet.
6. Open the Water Inlet and using a funnel, refill the chiller with approximately ½ gallon of distilled water
7. Caution: There is not a fill-line on the MIRA5, so be careful not to overfill. You can dip your finger into the Water Inlet and ensure that the water level only goes to about an inch below the edge of the opening.
8. Close the Water Inlet.

MIRA Pro

1. Unplug the machine from the wall outlet.
2. Locate the Chiller on the back of the machine.
3. Place a bucket under the Water Outlet.
4. Unscrew the Water Outlet and allow the water to drain into the bucket.
5. Once the water has drained, screw the cap back into place.
6. Unscrew the Water Inlet.
7. Using a funnel, fill the Chiller with distilled water until it reaches the Full line.
8. Close the Water Inlet.

Environmental Maintenance

Hot and Humid Months

During hot and humid months moisture can build up on the water hoses in the laser tube cabinet. Adjust the chiller temperature to be 1-2°C above the dew point.

You may want to add algaecide to your water to decrease the chances of algae growing in the laser tube.

Steps

1. Drain all of the water from the Chiller
2. Add 2-3 drops or 1 tablet of aquarium algaecide per gallon of distilled water to the water
3. Refill the chiller with the algaecide/distilled water mix to fill line

Cold Months

During freezing months take extra care to make sure your machine is not in an environment that goes below freezing, as this can cause the water to freeze and crack the laser tube.

If you are keeping your machine in a room that is subjected to cold temperatures, we recommend preparing your machine for the dropping temperature by adding antifreeze to the chiller. Please follow our Winterizing Guide for instructions on how to do best this.

If your machine is going to be in an environment that is at or below freezing we recommend you contact Customer Support at support@aeonlaser.us for instructions on how to prepare.

Tips

• During extreme temperatures ensure that the exhaust duct hose is disconnected from the machine so that the outdoor environmental air does not connect directly to the machine.
• Drain all of the water out of the Chiller.
• Cover with blankets.
